Technical Compliance Professional

Over the past five years, I've navigated the complex world of compliance, gaining experience in key areas such as KYC, GRC, and project management. I started as a Compliance Officer at Bright Data in early 2020, and my technical background put me in a unique position to succeed. So much so, that when our then compliance manager went on maternity leave, she left me in charge of 7 compliance officers in another time zone, since I was the only CO in the US. After about six months of leading the team as head of compliance, the company onboarded a very talented and experienced VP, who provided the department with new goals and aspirations as the Compliance and Ethics team. My first call with the VP was very memorable because one of the first things he said to me was that he felt like he already knew me, having watched all of the video guides I recorded and read all of the onboarding documentation I had put together.

About six months into his role, the VP truly gave us a much larger purpose. The department was restructured, responsibilities changed, and I became the first Compliance Project Manager. As the project manager, I worked with dedicated compliance R&D teams to fix bugs and implement new features, translating technical requirements into implementation plans. I was also in charge of testing and integrating compliance software. I am grateful for the opportunity I had to develop these project management skills, as I believe they are very valuable and will serve me well in all of my future roles. After a year of project management, I became the Senior Compliance Officer, managing a US team of three and training a compliance officer from Israel to be the new project manager.

Since I was the first Project Manager, I was the one who established our process, workflow, and communication methods, as well as documented plans for the R&D team. With this system in place, I was able to put a new project manager with no prior experience in charge within just two weeks.

As a Senior Compliance Officer, I focused on refining our compliance operations to make them more efficient and effective. I led efforts to automate manual tasks, streamline workflows, and reduce friction in our compliance activities, which directly improved how smoothly the team operated. I also worked closely with junior team members, guiding them through challenges and helping them grow in their roles. My goal was always to make our processes clearer and more straightforward, and to help the team respond more effectively to any compliance needs. These experiences taught me a lot about managing and improving compliance systems, and I look forward to applying these lessons in future roles.
